Candy is a beautiful Quarter horse available for adoption through Clover for Rover Animal Sanctuary and Rescue. She is an absolute sweetheart and needs a family. She came to rescue after being part of an animal cruelty case. Candy is super smart, super sweet, and an overall fantastic girl. She loves all people and other horses.

She is an older gal in her mid 20’s. She had a severe head injury shortly before coming to rescue, which left her blind in one eye and unable to eat regular hay in the winter. We feed cut hay and grain in the winter. She is crazy for green grass and has no problem eating it during the warm months.

Candy had a tough life, so we really want her adopter to commit to her for the rest of her life. We require her new family to own their land and have a nice dry barn she can sleep in at night, and they need to have another horse. We do not want her to be boarded, or live at a friend’s or other family member’s property.

If you are interested in Candy, and for more information about her, please email

• Safe Place for Animals does not do same-day adoptions, and adoptions are not on a first come, first serve basis.
• Adoption applications are available for submission in-person only.

• Applying to adopt a pet from Safe Place for Animals does not guarantee adoption approval.

Each pet is unique and they all have different personalities, temperaments and needs. So we work very hard to make sure that each pet is matched with the individual or family that is going to be the best fit for both the pet and adopter. Therefore, Safe Place for Animals does not do same-day adoptions and adoptions are not on a first come, first serve basis.

Each pet receives many applications so we thoroughly review each one, including doing veterinary checks and personal reference checks. There is no definitive timeline on the adoption process; it can vary by pet. Applying to adopt a pet does not guarantee adoption approval. We will contact you if your application has been approved. Those not approved may not be contacted due to the volume of applications and the time limitations of our volunteer staff. However, you are welcome to contact us to follow-up on your application status if you have not heard anything by a week after applying.
